Getting braces in Pitt Meadows or Mission? Why families make the drive

Ten minutes from Pitt Meadows, twenty from Mission, and treatment planned around the drive.

Pitt Meadows and Mission are on either side of Maple Ridge along Lougheed Highway, and neither has a certified specialist orthodontist within the city. Families in both have the same choice: a general dental office close to home that offers aligners or braces, or a specialist office in Maple Ridge. This is what the trade-off looks like.

What the drive actually is

From Harris Road in Pitt Meadows, about 10 to 12 minutes east to Dewdney Trunk Road. From downtown Mission, 20 to 25 minutes west. Both routes are Lougheed Highway, which slows between 3 and 6 pm. Transit: the R3 RapidBus and route 701 to Haney Place, or the West Coast Express to Port Haney, a 15-minute walk from the clinic. Details on the Pitt Meadows and Mission pages.

How many trips

Fewer than people expect. After the first visit, aligner patients come every 8 to 10 weeks with weekly phone-scan monitoring between; braces patients every 6 to 10 weeks. Over an 18-month treatment that is roughly 9 to 12 visits, most under 30 minutes. Siblings are seen together. Minor problems are handled by phone and at home when possible. The first appointment is the long one, and it is complimentary.

When a local dentist is the right choice

For an adult with mild crowding and a stable bite, a dentist near home with aligner training may reach the same result with less driving, and that is a fair choice. The evaluation in Maple Ridge is free and does not commit you; many families use it as a second opinion before deciding either way.

When the drive earns its keep

Growing children, bite problems, breathing and sleep concerns, treatment that did not hold the first time, and anything the local office describes as complicated. These are the cases where two to three years of specialist residency training and a daily orthodontic caseload change the plan. See orthodontist or dentist for orthodontics?

What Mission and Pitt Meadows families tell the clinic afterward

That the drive was shorter than they feared, that early appointments got kids back to school by second period, and that remote monitoring meant they rarely thought about the distance. That is the experience the clinic plans for.
