What this website is

MapleRidgeOrthodontist.com is an orthodontic education resource for people in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Mission and the surrounding communities. It exists to answer the questions people actually type into a search bar before they ever call an office: what treatment options exist, what they cost in British Columbia, whether a child needs treatment yet, and what happens at a first appointment.

It is provided by myORTHODONTIST Maple Ridge, a specialist orthodontic clinic at 108 – 22971 Dewdney Trunk Road. We say that plainly because we think you should know who is writing what you read. The clinic's own website, with booking, forms and team pages, is at myortho.ca.

Who reviews the content

Every clinical page carries a review line at the bottom with the names of the orthodontists who checked it and the month it was last reviewed.

Dr. Alireza Haerian Ardekani, DDS, MS (Ortho)

Dr. Haerian Ardekani completed dental school in 2009 and a Master of Science in Orthodontics in 2014 at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, then spent six years combining orthodontic practice with a university teaching post. He moved to Canada in 2021 and completed the Orthodontic Dental Specialty Assessment and Training Program at the University of British Columbia, a program for internationally trained orthodontists that admits only a small number of candidates each year. He is a Certified Specialist in Orthodontics in British Columbia, a Clinical Assistant Professor in Orthodontics at UBC, a peer-reviewed author, and a member of the British Columbia Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. His clinical interests include interceptive (two-phase) treatment, functional appliances for growing children, Invisalign, and combined orthodontic and jaw surgery cases in adults.

Dr. Aly Kanani, DMD, MSc (Ortho)

Dr. Kanani is a Certified Specialist in Orthodontics, a former clinical instructor at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry, and the founder of the myORTHODONTIST network. He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Detroit Mercy and McGill University. He has treated more than 30,000 orthodontic patients over two decades of practice and is recognized by Align Technology at the Sapphire tier, which reflects Invisalign case volume rather than a clinical ranking. His current clinical focus is airway-aware orthodontics: treatment planning that accounts for how a patient breathes and sleeps, not only how the teeth line up.

Our editorial standards

• Clinical statements are checked against current orthodontic literature and the positions of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists.
• We do not publish outcome guarantees, invented treatment times or before-and-after photographs without written patient consent. The previous version of this site carried placeholder gallery images; we removed them rather than fake them.
• Cost figures are given as ranges for British Columbia and are reviewed annually. A written quote from any clinic will always be more accurate than a web page.
• We write about general dentists as colleagues. Many Maple Ridge dental offices provide good orthodontic care, and we work with referring dentists every day.
• Where a page is educational rather than clinical (for example, directions to the clinic), it is marked as such and not given a clinical review line.

About the clinic

myORTHODONTIST Maple Ridge treats children, teens and adults with Invisalign, braces, early interceptive treatment and airway-focused orthodontics. The clinic offers complimentary evaluations, direct billing to insurance and monthly payment plans, and no referral is required. Team members speak Bulgarian, Farsi, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese in addition to English.
