Getting to the clinic from Mission

Driving: from downtown Mission, take Lougheed Highway west through Silverdale and past 287th Street into Maple Ridge, about 22 kilometres. Continue past 240th Street, turn right onto 232nd Street, then left onto Dewdney Trunk Road; the clinic is on the north side at 22971, just before 230th. Allow 20 to 25 minutes; the two-lane stretch through Silverdale slows in the afternoon. From Hatzic and Dewdney, add about 10 minutes. From Silverdale and Stave Falls, it is closer to 15.

Transit: the West Coast Express runs from Mission City station to Port Haney station in the morning and back in the evening on weekdays; Port Haney is about a 15-minute walk from the clinic. Bus 701 connects Mission and Haney Place through the day.

Why Mission families make the trip

Mission has general dental offices that offer braces or aligners, and for straightforward cases they serve patients well. Families come to Maple Ridge for a certified specialist in orthodontics when the case involves a growing child, a bite problem, breathing and sleep concerns, or a previous treatment that did not hold. The evaluation is complimentary, no referral is needed, and the clinic sends a report to your Mission dentist so routine care continues at home. See orthodontist or dentist for orthodontics?

Scheduling for Mission students

Students from Mission Secondary, Heritage Park, Hatzic and the elementary schools typically book adjustment visits at 8 am, which gets them back for late morning classes, or last slot of the day. Visits between the first appointment and the end of treatment are every 6 to 10 weeks and usually under 30 minutes, so the drive is the longest part. Invisalign patients are seen less often, every 8 to 10 weeks with remote monitoring in between, which many Mission families find easier than braces adjustments.

Common questions from Mission

  • Can we do fewer visits? Aligner treatment with remote monitoring reduces trips. Braces need in-person adjustments but the intervals can be stretched to 8 to 10 weeks in many cases.
  • What if something breaks and we cannot get in? Most braces issues can be managed at home for a few days. See emergencies and comfort care.
  • Does it cost more for out-of-town patients? No. Fees, insurance billing and monthly plans are identical. See cost and insurance.
