What we look at before giving you a number
- Which movements your teeth need. Tipping a crowded front tooth is quick; rotating a round premolar or moving teeth vertically takes longer, and sometimes points toward braces.
- Whether the bite needs correcting. Straightening alone and straightening plus an overbite or crossbite correction are different treatments with different timelines.
- Growth. In teens, growth can help correct the bite, and the timeline is planned around it.
- Gum and bone health. Adults with thinner bone support are moved more gently, which adds months but protects the teeth.
- Your realistic wear time. We ask directly, because an estimate built on at least 20 hours a day is only accurate if that actually happens.

What your written plan includes
After the evaluation you receive the plan in writing: the recommended approach, any alternatives, the expected timeline and the full fee. At our office the Invisalign fee includes attachments, refinements and retainers, so the refinement round near the end is part of the plan rather than an add-on. Insurance is billed directly, and the fee can be spread over interest-free monthly payments.
How we keep treatment on schedule
Most delays are small problems found late. Check-in visits are spaced several weeks apart, most of them short, with remote monitoring in between, so a tooth that is falling behind is spotted while a small adjustment still fixes it. Early and late appointment slots make it easier to keep visits around school and work.
When we would revise the estimate
Three things change a timeline once treatment is under way: wear time that slips below 20 hours a day, missed check-ins, and teeth that respond more slowly than planned. If any of these happens we tell you, explain the options and, when aligners are no longer the most predictable tool for what is left, say so plainly. Changing aligners faster than prescribed or skipping the refinement does not shorten treatment in a way that lasts.
